What Is Cult Classic?

Cult cinema or what some people call cult classic is a movie that has a strong, loyal fanbase. Cult cinemas are not dependent on box office success or critically acclaimed. These type of movies changes the dynamics of cinema in future. I will give you some examples which way you can get my point more clearly. My favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption which is the best example of cult cinema. The movie changed the perception of people. In the movie’s initial run it was a flop but after getting numerous Oscars nominations it came back into the theaters to become a success. In India, there is another perfect example of cult cinema is Andaz Apna Apna (AAA). If anyone doesn’t know then Aamir Khan and Salman Khan starrer movie was a big box office failure. What would happen if these two stars in one movie today. But after the television period, it just became one of the most streaming movies in the history of Indian Cinema. It is one of the most favorites movies on my watchlist. Eve...

Chemical Hearts :- Combination Of Feelings

The movie showcases a side of love with the help of Grace and Henry. Henry, a young, aspiring writer good at writing but shy in talking, gets caught up when a new student comes in school named Grace. She is private about herself but makes the bond with Henry and things start to swibble. The movie is an adaptation of Krystal Sutherland's 'Our Chemical Hearts' . The movie left a special emotion in me and surprised me because I didn't read a book. Lili Reinhart as 'Grace Town' gives a great performance. Her acting as a physically struggling girl is best in some scenes. Her acting is well known to us because of ' Riverdale '. Austin Abrams as 'Henry Page' is the best part of the movie. His character has got so many layers in it and he expressed it pretty conventionally. He is well known for his work as 'Ethen Lewis' in the show ' Euphoria '. Sarah Jones as 'Sadie' sister of Henry plays a character who is emotionally injured...

The Kissing Booth 2 :- A Teen Romance Building In Strong Franchise

By Manish Surve The movie resumes where it was left in the first part( So if you haven't watched it SPOILER ALERT!!!). Elle and Lee are now in senior year and enjoying the school's last year. Noah and Elle are struggling in a relationship due to long distance. Both of them get confused and a new boy comes into their life. The movie has all the elements that can be asked in a teen-romance. Most of the cast from the first movie is returned. Joey King as Elle once again impresses with her ability. Her playful character is the heart of the movie. Joel Courtney as Lee Flynn is the true friend. He always got Elle's back. His acting in emotional scenes dips down little. Jacob Elorid 's character as a Noah is changed from the first movie. His character is mature. He doesn't have much screen time compared to the first movie. Writing and direction of Vince Marcello is good. The screenplay of the movie is great but feels like the same old things we see in a teen rom-coms....

The Revenant :- Struggle For Revange

By Manish Surve The movie describes Hugh Glass 's experiences in 1823. It showcases the struggle of Hugh Glass life. After he was attacked by a bear how he managed to survive is the main aspect of the movie. The movie has some layers of love, friendship, betrayal and vengeance. The movie is loosely based on the 2002 novel 'The Revenant'. Leonardo DiCaprio in the role of Hugh Glass nails it. His character barely has 10 minutes of dialogue in the whole movie. So it is all on his expressions. He earned 6th nomination for Oscars, winning it for the first  time. Tom Hardy plays the character of John Fitzgerald who is naive, short tempered and selfish. The role earned him his first Oscars. It is sad he didn't get the award. As some belive his performance was better than Leonardo DiCaprio . The supporting cast was also highly praised for their performances. Alejandro G. Iñàrritu directed this film phenomenally. He created a great environment for the movie. Most of the scen...

THE OLD GUARD :- A Story Of Immortals Review by INFORMAL REVIEW

By Manish Surve                                                                                                           The movie revolves around a group of people who are immortals. It showcases the struggle of their life and their powers too. Their life takes turns when a CIA agent wants to take their life and they go on a revenge mission. The movie is well paced. It has some great action scenes. It is based on the comics of Greg Rucka. I think they have missed the opportunity of not making the series. There is so much backstory but they just get rid of it in few minutes. The movie stars Charlize Theron as the leader of immortals named 'Andy'. Charlize Theron does a good job especially in action sequences. All the ...

GREYHOUND :- Another Tom Hanks Gem Review by INFORMAL REVIEW

By Manish Surve Greyhound is the story during Battle Of Atlantic during the World War ||. The story revolves around Commander Ernest Krause who is first coming in war as a Captain. It showcases how German submarines targeted the US Navy just after coming into war. The story is fascinating and gives you goosebumps. The movie is slow and it is a bit confusing to watch. The movie is an adaptation of 1955's novel The Good Shepherd. Tom Hanks as a Commander Ernest Krause steals the show as always. His acting skills are great and it doesn't need our say in it. His anxious look, his confusing state, all the boxes were tickled by him. Steven Graham as a second in command for Krause plays a good part especially in the first half of the movie. All the supporting cast did a commendable job. It's their movie and they make it special for us.  Aaron Schneider directed this film very beautifully. The insecurity of soldiers during tight situations. Bold decision making and a pause to think...

7500

By Manish Surve The movie revolves around the airplane pilot Tobias Ellis whose airplane is hijacked by some terrorists. The movie is a survival drama and it showcases how he is going to secure all the passengers with himself. The story is too slow and the narrative is not so engaging. Complete movie is shot in a cockpit with high pilot protocols. If that was not enough the half of the movie is in German. They tried to make it engaging by adding some aspects like the pilot and air hostess are in relationship. Now if it comes to saving her life what he will do but lack of background story and slow pace makes it dull. There subject and motive is good but it is too slow and more confusing . The big name Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the character of Tobias Ellis who is dedicated to his work and very professional in nature. The supporting cast is not known and mostly German. The movie was filmed in 2017 and premiered at Locarno Film Festival on August 9, 2019. It was digitally released on Ama...

Jojo Rabbit

By Manish Surve The movie revolves at the time of WWII where a 10 year old boy named Jojo who is basically a fan of Adolf Hitler and a member of Hitlerjugend. But how things changes when he finds out that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in his home. Roman Griffin Davis plays the perfect part of the 10 year old boy named Jojo which is the main character. This is a golden time for Scarlett Johansson who nails the role of Jojo's mother with her expressions and voice. Thomasin McKenzie as a Jewish girl lacks in emotions but gives good performance. Taika Waititi who is directing the movie also plays the part of Adolf Hitler. He is taking a dig at Adolf Hitler and plays it in a comic way. The supporting cast is great and even a small role is done perfectly. The movie is authentic and it sticks to its roots. The movie is shot entirely in English but there are some scenes where German is also used.  The movie is a period drama but it is not like other films we have seen till the date. T...

How 'Back To The Future' Changed Cinema

By Manish Surve The movie revolves around the teenager 'Marty' and a scientist 'Doctor Brown' who invents a time machine. It showcases how chaos leads them in the past and things begin to change. The movie is funny and engaging with little bit of drop in the middle part of the movie. They did a pretty good job at connecting the dots in future and past.  Michal J. Fox plays the character of teenager 'Marty McFly' and is entertained with his energy. Christopher Llyod as a desperate scientist 'Doctor Brown' plays a good part which is similar to playing a double role. The supporting cast includes Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover as Marty's parents' and Thomas F. Wilson in the role of Biff Tannen, a bully. This movie remarks as the last film of Claudia Wells as 'Jennifer' before leaving acting.  With the backing of Steven Spielberg , Robert Zemeckis did a good job directing time travelling but the movie was shot in 1980s, so the VFX used in that ...
